The Reverend Mr. Phong Thanh Le, 46, son of Mr. Quyen Thanh Le and Mrs. Anna Vinh Nguyen, will be ordained to the Priesthood by Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia.

Saturday, May 20, 2023 10:00 a.m. Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul 18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway Philadelphia, PA 19103

A native of Vietnam, Deacon Le has been serving as a transitional deacon at Saint Andrew Parish in Newtown (Delaware County) for the past year in final preparation for Ordination to the Priesthood.

He attended Xuan Loc Primary and High School (1990-1993) in Vietnam and Northeast Catholic High School (1995) in Philadelphia. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (2002) from Temple University in Philadelphia as well as Master of Divinity (2022) and Master of Theology (2023) degrees from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood.

Father Le will celebrate his First Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 21, 2023 9:00 a.m. Saint Andrew Church 81 Swamp Road Newtown, PA 18940

The homilist will be Reverend Monsignor Michael Picard. Concelebrants include Reverend Keith Chylinski, Reverend Patrick Brady, Reverend Marc Capizzi, and Reverend Alexander Pancoast.

Father Le will celebrate a second Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving in Vietnamese on Sunday, May 21, 2023 3:00 p.m. Saint Helena Church 6161 North Firth Street Philadelphia, PA 19120

The homilist will be his uncle, Reverend Joseph Chau Nguyen, a Pastor in Mississippi. Concelebrants include Reverend Monsignor Joseph Trinh, Reverend Monsignor Michael Picard, Reverend Robert Pesarchick, Reverend Joseph Chau Nguyen, Reverend Peter Welsh, and Reverend Marc Capizzi.

There are seven men from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the Ordination Class of 2023. Following the conclusion of Mass with the Rite of Ordination, they will be assigned to an Archdiocesan parish where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Archbishop to assist the pastor of a parish.
